Spring Mountain Vineyard Red Blend Elivette Spring Mountain District Napa Valley 2013

Spring Mountain Vineyard Red Blend Elivette Spring Mountain District Napa Valley 2013

96 POINT phenom! The powerfully-built, and all-in-all amazing 2013 vintage and Last Bottle’s simply RIDONKULOUS price…let’s go!!!!

2013!!! What could I possibly say about this vintage that you haven’t heard for years?! The power, the depth, the intensity that made this one of the biggest, and BADDEST vintages in Napa history – with the sheer life force to survive and THRIVE for decades!!! The polish and complexity of the Elivette 2013 is just staggering – and while we basically received an entire TRUCKLOAD of this beauty…don’t think for a second that this will last for long! (On the site, I mean – in your wine fridge or tucked safely under your bed – this just might outlive us all!)

Anyways, I’m going to be straight with y’all (as ALWAYS!) When I tasted this on release, at the winery back in early 2016…I didn’t love it. It was just TOO MUCH. Tighter than a drum, with tannins that felt like a lead pipe to your molars. But I taste EVERY wine I get to share with y’all – and (thankfully) sometimes more than once – so I gave this a go yesterday afternoon…and WOW! It’s in its HAPPY PLACE, no question, and even Shooter McGavin and a hired heckler couldn’t rattle this absolutely profound and POPPING Cabernet blend. 57% Cabernet Sauvignon leading the pack, then Cabernet Franc clocking in at 17%, and rounded out with 10% Merlot, 8% Petit Verdot, and 8% Malbec…and my word, give it the coveted Gold Jacket already! The plums and blackberry coulis! The myriad of herbs, from sage to thyme, with lavender and lilacs, and this bold and brooding current of graphite, and toasted black peppercorns, and a silky, dark chocolate and espresso finish! It still has YEARS of prime, character-building development ahead of it, so don’t fear the decanter on this one…but wow, oh wow – how far it has come along already!

HUZZAH, good people! Even at the winery’s $220 MSRP, this is a relative STEAL for high-end Napa Red from the near-perfect 2013 vintage. But at our UNDER $40 price?!?!
