Mystery 'TD-9' Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley 2022
Sell out alert! Same ICONIC producer, identical 95 POINT score, this “new” Cab in the portfolio is already a great – and the secret is out!
So…Sherlocks and Sher-ladies – your passion, and fervor, and unabashed desire for EPIC Napa Cab at an unbeatable price has unlocked ANOTHER Mystery Stags Leap Cabernet! Good on ya – and for those of you who missed out on today’s first delectable offering – consider this your chance for REDEMPTION! Another simply BANGIN’ 95 POINT Napa Cab for this legendary producer – in just the SECOND vintage* of this Cabernet ever!! (Yes, that was an intentional asterisk – like a homerun record in the MLB record book sort of asterisk.)
I’m gonna give you virtually the same hints here, plus a wine-specific clue that might give any farmers in the crowd a bit of an advantage…but like before – this was recently featured as a MYSTERY in our Harvest Marathon – and we have even LESS of this still available! Ok, let’s do this!
Ok, onto the hints:
- The founders are a father-son duo that worked side by side for years on the project, with the father starting the winery in the early 1970s, to be joined by his son in the early 1980s.
One 95 POINT review called this “full-bodied and refined” adding that it delivers “the strength and generosity so characteristic of [this producer].”
- The winemaker has been at the helm for over FOUR DECADES – an incredible tenure for any winemaker at this level.
- The vineyards have been an important part of Napa’s grape growing history since the 1880s – even continuing through Prohibition (and the rumor is, a wee dram of some secret sauce was quietly produced and distributed to those in the know…).
- This wine is named for a tractor – the original model used to farm the property built in Melrose Park, Illinois – not far from where the father was a publishing executive in his first pre-wine life.
- This is TECHNICALLY only the 2nd vintage of this wine – at least as a labeled and listed Cabernet Sauvignon. Young vines from the property and a few select vineyards from other vineyards across Napa Valley are the source of this wine today.
Ok…ready to guess and then go BIG?! At the sort of price we have here – the BEST anywhere again – you definitely won’t want to miss out on this TWICE!
While it lasts!
