E. Guigal Côtes du Rhône Rouge 2020

E. Guigal Côtes du Rhône Rouge 2020

Guigal is a historic Rhône estate – and their wines are nothing short of legendary – even the entry-level bottlings! This quadruple 90 POINT daily drinker sets the bar for UNDER $15 Rhône Reds...and you’re gonna want to back up the truck!

GUIGAL in da’ house! In what must surely be the BIGGEST event in the Bay Area today – Last Bottle is breaking out one of the world’s greatest producers, and showcasing a bottle of brilliance that you’re gonna want a whole MOUNTAIN of…all at the BEST PRICE IN THE USA!

Well, smack my cotton tail and call me Bad Bunny – let’s get this show on the road! You know Guigal, of course…the single GREATEST name of Northern Rhône’s Côte-Rôtie…revered for DECADES for their prized La Mouline, La Landonne, and La Turque, plus a whole heap of other top wines?! They’re the generational stewards of historic vineyards that have been planted for THOUSANDS of years – so you better believe they take every little detail seriously. This utterly delectable Côtes du Rhône Rouge just landed last week at LB HQ, and we thought, since we have sooooo little, and since there is absolutely nothing else of consequence going on today…let’s offer these baddies out at the INCREDIBLE, inconceivable price of just $12!!!

Say WHAT?!?! Oh, yes. 50% Syrah, 40% Grenache, and 10% Mourvèdre…you are not READY!!! High-toned, spicy, and chock-a-block with a teeth-shattering intensity – this is BOLD and definitely not for the shy! Roasted plums pop you on the button straight away, followed by Mediterranean herbs, smoked and savoury meats, and black pepper a’plenty. There’s a plethora of fruit – blackberries, black currants, raspberries, strawberries, black olives, and more – but this is far from fruity. There’s a depth and complexity you rarely find in such value-driven bottlings…and this character falls more in line with the producer’s more highly prized bottlings than you might expect! Chocolate-y, too! I mean, at this PRICE…the sort of quality is as unexpected as it is appreciated! A sleeper and a stunner for sure – and while you are unlikely to confuse it with one of the prized “La Las”, you’ll nevertheless find some impressive similarities! Again…at just TWELVE DOLLARS – I’m not sure how you could say no, honestly. I didn’t…I couldn’t…one case headed home this Super Bowl Sunday! The rest – I leave to you!

While it lasts!
